Angel of Mine
Light from a video
monitor caught your eyes.
I paused and looked
away.
Stealing another
glance,
I saw your smile,
and stopped.
I'll never forget
seeing you for the first time.
I'll always remember
the thrill of hearing you say, “Hello.”
Conversation went
on endlessly throughout the night.
Dawn was born
of desire to see you again,
and again.
I remember our
first touch,
kissing you,
holding you.
Days are blending
into weeks.
We are learning
each other's secrets,
sharing our dreams,
and we have pressed
flesh together as tears streamed down our cheeks.
Our hearts begin
to open,
but,
WAIT,
fear has arrived.
Ghosts from the
past are present now.
A relationship
between two becomes haunted by many.
In a world of
broken dreams and promises,
it's hard to love
and trust, again.
Beyond the darkness,
I can see your
inner goodness,
have you lost
sight of mine?
Take my hand,
I know you're
afraid,
so am I,
angel of mine.
